About Us

The Boy Scouts program offers a chance for people ranging from 11-17 years old. They can keep going on their Scouting journey and grow independence, responsibility and leadership skills. This program is made for kids ready to face challenges explore the outdoors learn useful skills and get more involved in their communities. Boy Scouts gives a range of activities and experiences that help youth find what interests them and push them to try new things.

In Boy Scouts youth take a part in planning and joining their troop. Unlike Cub Scouts, where adults guide activities Boy Scouts is set up for youth to lead. Scouts learn how to work decide solve problems and care for their patrol and troop. Adult leaders give guidance and support. Let Scouts learn by doing and leading.

Boy Scouts focuses strongly on character, citizenship, leadership and personal growth. Scouts join camping trips, hiking, outdoor adventures, service projects and skill‑building activities. Scouts learn skills like first aid, cooking, navigation, teamwork, communication and emergency readiness. These experiences help Scouts grow more confident, capable and ready, for challenges.

As Scouts move through the program Scouts work toward ranks. Earn merit badges by studying many subjects. Every achievement gives Scouts a chance to set goals beat challenges and feel proud of their work. Older Scouts can also hold leadership roles, where they teach younger Scouts organize activities lead patrols and help set the troops direction.

At Troop 285 we aim to build a place where every Scout can learn, lead, explore and grow. Whether a Scout is learning an outdoor skill guiding a patrol finishing a service project or working toward the Eagle Scout rank every step is part of an adventure that prepares Scouts for whatever comes next.
